September 5th, 2008

"Yaaaa Hoooooo", its Friday. Wish I had something interesting to post! I’m lost
for words these days…fighting a cold, trying to keep it at bay. I’m waiting on
new supplies to come in, then I can finish up some jewelry projects that I have
been working on. I had some free time to work on my torch this past week and I
have to say I’m a bit rusty. “Geeeeeees” that aggravates me,.. it’s ok thou, I’ll get my
skills back up, hopefully even better!  Working and creating with hot glass is
always a challenge and learning experience.  Challenge is good!

Upstate New York has been doing a wonderful job of dodging the aftermaths
all those hurricanes churning out there. Looks like we are going into a nice
sunny, warm weekend! I hope you enjoy your weekend!
Thanks for stopping by ~ Nance

Sept. 2nd……2008

“Howdy”…. Today is my dear, sweet, sensitive, sisters birthday, “Happy Birthday
Karen”….even thou you don’t celebrate your B~day! Love you!

I hope you all had a wonderful Labor Day weekend. The weather around Upstate,
NY has been gorgeous!!! I don’t know if you remember my older blogs of Dave and
I restoring our old wooden boat, but after two years of sanding, refinishing, finding a
dependable engine, we are finally able to go out boating, and enjoying every minute
of it!

Before I disappear into my studio I would like to list two new items. Inspired from
all this wonderful weather we have been experiencing! .... "Party Bubbles bracelet"
and .... "Bubbler earrings", bright, happy, party jewelry!...I think I had too many bubbles
this past weekend, ha!

Thank you for stopping by, see you soon ~ Nance

August 28th……2008

“Ahoy Matees”, Can you tell I’m partying to much this summer? Got to get back
here soon! Tonight I’m having a smashing party. Smashing up a pink depression
glass top that a friend gave me to make a pair of earrings out of. Here’s a before
and after shot. Hopefully the pink will come out because its such a light color pink
to begin with…hmmmm.

Believe it or not, I have a pair of earrings to list tonight, they are bright, happy
and have a nice glow, so I’m calling them …”Happy Glow lucky” earrings”.

I’ve got to get to the torch, tons to do, G’day mates ~ Nance

August 21st,...2008

“HI” ~ anybody out there? It’s been kind of quite around here and I do apologize.
Last night I played around in my studio, and this morning I pulled some nice beads
out of the kiln...I can see some funky earrings coming out of these kids...

For the past 3 summers I’ve spent much of my free time making beads and creating
one of kind jewelry. This summer has been a little different, I decided to spend a
little more free time with friends, family and being out in the big blue room (outdoors).
It feels good, and I’m recharging my creative energies. As soon as the north wind
starts to blow, and cooler weather is upon us, I’ll be warming my hands by the
torch much more! I hope you have a wonderful weekend and I’ll be back soon.
Thank you for stopping by ~ Nance

August 18th……2008

“Hi there”, I hope you had a fantastic weekend. Last week and this past weekend have
been non stoppers, and now I feel like stopping, slow down a little, veg like a broccoli…
or something like that. I feel like every thing I’m doing today is in slow motion, do you
know what I mean?

Believe it, or not… I have some new jewelry and an August Lu Lu to post.

... “Miss Augusts” colors are peridot green, August birthstone color.

The wild flowers are abundant this year (from all the rain we have been having around
here), which inspired me to create a  ... "Meadow Flowers necklace” and

My last posting is a necklace named ... “Daydreamer”, which is what you do when you
stroll though a big field of wildflowers….right?

I better get back to my slow moving day, see you soon and thank you for
coming by ~ Nance

August 14 th, 2008….

“Hi there”, remember me? Not a lot to say except, vacation was good! It was good to have a change
in pace and scenery (I did miss my torch thou). Now I just have to get back into the groove of things
again (don’t’ let me go on vacation again, it gets me all nuts up)…...any ways; I hope you had a good
week as well.

I didn’t get many pictures while on vaca, but here are a few that we took.
Dave found a place to put our camper for the season, its located on the north end of Cayuga
Lake, NY. Every morning we would take a walk up Turnpike Road, here is one of the views.

Here is another view, I like winding, hilly roads.

We decided to take a cruise on the "Well-&-Away" down the Seneca Canal.

New to us but  the "old tower of power Mercury" ran awesome, heavy on the gas thou....

I finally was able to get a picture of one of the eagles... He sits at the mouth of the Seneca canal.

I tired to get a close up, but my camerwouldn't capture the details...

That's about it for now....

I’ve been working on my torch the past couple of days and will have some new postings this
Monday. If you would like to be notified when new postings are up, please drop me an
email: nanceonfire@rochester.rr.com  and in the subject line put “Notify me” …that’s all.

Thanks for checking in ~ Nance

July 29th, 2008….new postings (evening up date)

Do you remember a couple of weeks ago when I was talking about making some beads in
colors of creams and blue’s. Well I finally finished it (waiting on supplies) I’m calling this

This past week I’ve been working on a couple of new necklaces.  Just put the finishing
touches on them last night….. Creamsickle, and ……. Inspirations.

I’m still perfecting some new earrings, and hope to post them here soon!

I better get back to those earrings! Thank you for stopping by, see you soon ~ Nance

July 29th, 2008….(am)

I’m back with a little Nostalgia...

During Mom’s stay she wanted to revisit old stomping grounds (mine to).

We headed over to Ontario Beach Park (Rochester, NY). The first thing we did was
ride the Dentzel Menagerie carousel which opened up in 1905 and is still in its
original place. The music, the old paintings, the carousel animals where just like
they use to be, it really touched our emotions.

My ride!

Then, of course we had to have a burger at “Dons Original”, and then over to
Abbots to have a delicious custard cone! To finish off the day we drove over
to see the house Mom grew up in.

Tonight I will be back with some new digs, ”Nostalgia”, Creamsickle, and Inspirations.
See you soon ~ Nance

July 25th, early am 2008…. & updated a little later on

all in the necklace category.

Guess what? ….. My lovely assistant Dave fixed my computer. Being an Electrician
by trade he saw that it was getting an arc when plugged in, just not turning on.
Dave thought it was my power supply so he bought a new one and replaced it.
(Do you know that he doesn't know how to turn my computer on... now he does)
WELL-LAAAA, it works.  I think I’ll keep him around a little longer, ha!

Recently Dave found a new spot to put our camper  year round on Cayuga lake, NY.

It’s nothing fancy, I would call it “Americana”, but it’s a nice little get away. Here is a view

from our spot that I like. To the right (not in the picture) is a family of Bald eagles who have

a nest close by. I love to watch them fly, dive for fish, awesome bird! I’ll try to get some

pictures of them!

My other view… that I’m not crazy about at all ~ Lovely isn’t it, HA!

Maybe I should look at this as a little bit of nostalgia….

I’ll be back with some more Nostalgia with Mom soon .

I’m going to do some serious ‘cleaning up’ on my web site, starting out fresh.
I worked late into the wee hours on my torch last night, the beads are annealing
in the kiln. I’m perfecting some new style earrings and necklaces. Can’t wait to
put them all together!

Have a wonderful weekend! I’ll be back in a few days. Bead Geek signing out
to enjoy the summer weekend!....Can you blame me? Nance

July 23th, 2008….

Yesterday I went to turn my computer on and it wouldn’t boot up. So I’m quickly
flying in to update my web site from another computer.  Remember when I had
this problem before, but cleared up after unplugging and replugging in. Now
that technique isn’t working, so I think it’s time to take it in. Drat’s, I have new
pictures to show you what we’ve been up to and some new jewelry too.

And… early 6:00 am this morning at the Rochester, NY airport I received my
first parking ticket.  I left my car for a few minutes to help Mom with her luggage.
As I was helping her out I saw the “guy in blue” writing me a ticket. I ran over
to tell him I was helping my mother out; but his  response was, ‘you need to move
your car’ and drove off…… nice guy, hu?

Hopefully I’ll get my computer fixed soon and I’ll be back in full swing.
Thanks for stopping in ~ Nance
